Oregon Nursing Licensure

Approved Master's level study qualifies Oregon nurses to apply for an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license from the State Board to practice in Oregon. Advanced Practice Oregon nurses must obtain certification for their specialty from a state-approved national certifying body, such as the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center, the National Board of Certification and Re-certification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) , National Certification Corporation (NCC), Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation, and the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.

Oregon does stipulate a one-time continuing education requirement in pain management for all nursing licensure. This is a 7-hour requirement that, once fulfilled, does not have to be re-taken for renewal in subsequent years.
